Just found out your baby is breech? Want to avoid a cesarean section? Here in the State of Florida, it is rare to hear of anyone delivering their breech baby vaginally, most are delivered by C-Section because of liability issues.

The main ways to try to get your baby to move would be through exercise, chiropractic adjustment, acupuncture treatment, pressure points, or by what is called a manual version. Most OBs no longer perform this procedure, they view breech as an obstetric emergency. They believe it is quicker and safer to perform a cesarean.

As Florida Licensed Midwives, we cannot deliver breech babies, nor can we perform manual versions.  Below are some exercises you can start with to help guide your baby to a head down position.

We recommend Chiropractic (Webster Technique), Moxa, Acupuncture, and stretching exercies to turn a breech to avoid a c/section.

This is what knee chest properly looks like: the chest on floor, bottom up. This allows baby to come out

of pelvis and turn around.

Starting in a straddle position, stretch your legs out to loosen your muscles.

Determine (if you can) which way baby is more likely to move for you ...left or right.

With one leg tucked inward, lean on side baby is more likely to move out of

And lean on that side to encourage baby to turn

the other way.

Keep the pressure on for several minutes and repeat this exercise several times a day until baby turns.

Another variation that can be down throughout the day while sitting and watching television :)

And one other example of a way that you can lay down and put pressure on the baby to encourage baby bottom out of pelvis.

Rub baby and talk to him and help him turn :) gently.
